Miami remains in the mix for 2025 4-star WR Donovan Olugbode: “Miami is definitely showing a lot of love”
Since offering Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy wide receiver Donovan Olugbode in May, the Miami Hurricanes have continued to put their best foot forward when it comes to the recruitment of the four-star prospect.
With Aug. 1 being the first day college coaches can contact 2025 prospects, Miami was one of the first schools to reach out to Olgubode, who is feeling the love from the Hurricanes early on.
“Miami is definitely showing a lot of love,” Olgubode told CaneSport. “I was just down there not too long ago. Since August 1st, they’ve been reaching out a lot.”
Thus far, Olgubode, who is the No. 155 overall prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 21 overall wideout according to the On3 Industry Ranking, has developed a strong relationship with Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard, who has been at the forefront of his recruitment.
“He’s a good guy who knows a lot about the game,” Olgubode said. “He’s going to keep it real with you no matter what. He’s not going to sugar coach anything about your game or anything; he’s just going to give it to you real, straight up, and straightforward, which I like about him a lot.”
Since making the move from his home state of Illinois to Florida last season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder has grown fond of the Sunshine State and believes he could potentially see himself staying there for his collegiate years.
“Moving down here was kind of stressful, but now I’ve gotten used to it, and just thinking about staying down here in the Florida area to play football, I would like to do that a lot,” Olugbode said.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Illinois is the current favorite to land Olugbode’s pledge, leading all schools with a 36.5% probability.
When asked which school had his attention the most at the moment, the No. 26 overall prospect in the state of Florida in the 2025 cycle named Tennessee, Florida, Illinois, Georgia, and Miami.
“Just a school that wants me to be there and shows love,” Olugbode said when asked what he wants to see the most in a program. Also, how I can fit into their program and play as much as I can the first year I get there.”
CaneSport’s take
Olugbode has continued to see his recruiting stock rise since the summer after earning a handful of offers, and it does not look to be slowing down anytime soon. With what looks like to be a potential breakout junior year ahead, Miami will look to remain in the mix for one of the top wideouts in the 2025 class.
