Deion Sanders shares moment of respect with former Oregon player Keanon Lowe
Things might not have gone Deion Sanders‘ way on Saturday in the game between his Colorado squad and Oregon, but that didn’t stop Sanders from having a meaningful impact all the same.
While walking toward the sideline on Saturday, Sanders walked past a former Oregon player who had a piece of advice for him.
“Don’t stomp on the O,” the player shouted toward Sanders. “Don’t stomp on the O. Do not stomp on the O. Don’t stomp on the O, coach.”
That former player, according to Rob Moseley, the editor of GoDucks.com, was none other than Keanon Lowe. Lowe prominently came to fame when he helped disarm a potential school shooter at Parkrose High School in 2019 with nothing but quick action, a few loving words and an embrace.
A viral video of his hug swept the Internet, offering hope in troubling times.
After passing Lowe, Sanders thought better of it and turned back toward him. He approached Lowe and opened up in his own embrace, left arm over Lowe’s shoulder as Lowe hugged him back.

It’s unclear whether Sanders knew who he was hugging and his hug was a show of solidarity with Lowe for his heroic act or was merely Sanders spreading love in his own way. In either case, the moment was caught by a half dozen cameras and phones pointed in his direction.
At least one woman is seen smiling widely behind the embracing duo.
Sanders, and by extension Colorado, have become the talk of college football through the first third of the season.
The Buffaloes began the year 3-0, highlighted by an upset of defending national runner-up TCU in the season opener. The level of pressure and the enormity of the spotlight continued to expand heading into Saturday’s showdown with Oregon.
After a 42-6 beatdown by the Ducks, that spotlight is likely to fade at least some.
That said, you can be sure Deion Sanders will still be a prominent fixture in the sport and the lessons he shares with his team will continue to take root. One of them appears to be sharing love openly, as he did on Saturday with Lowe.
A cool moment on an otherwise forgettable afternoon for Sanders and the Buffaloes.
