Why Notre Dame is a unique option for recently offered On300 LB Storm Miller
Storm Miller is more familiar with Notre Dame than most 2026 recruits at this point in the process. The top 200 four-star linebacker has his older brother to thank for that.
Fighting Irish linebackers coach Max Bullough offered the 6-foot-3, 215-pound thumper from Strongsville (Ohio) High on Wednesday. Storm is already further ahead in his Notre Dame football recruitment than his older brother Blake Miller ever got.
Blake was a top 175 recruit at offensive tackle in the 2022 class. Despite visiting Notre Dame as a prospect, then-Irish offensive line coach Jeff Quinn never offered Miller, the No. 12 offensive tackle prospect in his class.
Though the elder Miller never had the chance to play for Notre Dame, Storm remembers his brother speaking highly of the Irish. That laid the foundation for his initial interest.
“He was on a lot of visits there, and I heard it’s really nice,” Storm told Blue & Gold on Wednesday morning. “So, I definitely think that offer stacks up with anyone that I have right now.
“I just got to check out the campus, meet some coaches and players and see how I like it.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Storm Miller is the No. 174 overall player, No. 19 linebacker nationally and No. 9 prospect in Ohio in the 2026 class. He has offers from eight other power conference programs, including Cincinnati, Michigan State, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Now that the Irish are in the mix, they definitely stand out.
“Getting an offer from such a well-respected program like Notre Dame — I mean, they’re top of the line when it comes to football,” Miller said. “I definitely felt honored, but there is still more work to be done.”
How Notre Dame offered Storm Miller
Miller had been on Notre Dame’s radar before Wednesday. He heard the Irish were recently investigating his academic credentials. Then, Bullough followed him on social media on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday morning, Bullough stopped by Miller’s school to gather more information. Later, they eventually connected over the phone, and Bullough formally offered Miller a scholarship.
“I was awesome,” he said. “Honestly, he’s a really good guy. I can tell he’s really technical about the game, which I am, too. He actually said I fit in really well. He wants to get me to South Bend at some point because I would love all the guys he coaches. …
“I like him a lot. He’s a really good person. He showed that he cared about me, which I really appreciate.”
The next step in Miller’s Notre Dame recruitment is to visit the campus. At the very least, his brother’s feedback has him eager to see it himself.
“I’m going to have to check it out,” Miller said. “Coach (Bullough) said to come down for a camp or even maybe sometime next year. He said, ‘We want to get you down.’ I’d love to check it out. …
“Obviously Coach Bullough offered me and showed respect by coming to see me, so I feel like he deserves for me to come see him.”
