2025 four-star OL Connor Howes talks recent Mississippi State offer and early favorites

In the early stages of his recruiting process, 2025 offensive lineman and On3 four-star prospect Connor Howes has collected a handful of Power 5 offers. But that pace has picked up lately for the St. Cloud (Fla.) High School standout.

Last month, Howes added another SEC offer when Mississippi State extended an opportunity to Howes. He is rate as the nation’s No. 13 offensive tackle and the state’s No. 22 prospect by On3 rankings.

“They were talking to me a little bit but nothing too crazy,” Howes recalled. “It was a text here or there so it was kind of out of the blue. But at the same time I felt like it was coming. It was amazing and Coach (Cody) Kennedy sounds like a genuine, down-to-earth type of guy and it was a good talk.”

Thus far, Howes is not too familiar with the Bulldogs’ program. But he hopes to learn more in the future and has talked of setting up a visit to Starkville.

“I don’t know much yet and Coach Kennedy told me a little bit about their program,” added Howes. “He said I can learn a lot more when I get down there for a visit.”

Overall, Howes owns over a dozen Division 1 offers. He talked of other Power 5 programs starting to show interest in his talents, as well.

“I also have offers from UCF, USF, FAU, Arkansas, Charlotte, Troy and Arkansas State,” noted the 6-foot-6 and 300-pound Howes. “I also have Penn State showing me pretty good interest and so is Maryland. I went to the US Army Bowl combine earlier this month and one of the coaches there said Texas was also very interested in me.”

This spring Howes has kept a light visit schedule. But he noted of other programs he wants to check out in the near future and he is working to schedule those visits around his schedule.

“So far I have only been to a spring practice to USF and I’ve been there a few times,” Howes recalled. “I know I will go see UCF soon and we are trying to find a few days where I can go see Mississippi State, Arkansas and Arkansas State, too. I want to hit up those schools and also try to hit up Houston. We just have to find a few days that fits in our schedule.”

For now, Howes doesn’t have an exact decision timeline in mind althought he has given it some thoughts. He also has a few schools that are currently sticking out to him the most.

“I am not trying to rush it,” mentioned Howes about his decision. “Whenever I find a place that feels like home and when I go visit these schools and learn more about it, I would say it will be sometime over summer, maybe June or July. Right now my Top 4 would be, in no specific order, Arkansas, Mississippi State, USF and UCF.”
