Things coming down to the wire for 4-star LB Christian Gass
Covington (Ga.) Eastide four-star linebacker Christian Gass has an important weekend ahead of him. The No. 85 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Rankings will announce his decision to the world on July 20.
He will be picking between Georgia, Tennessee and USC. A lot of the thinking left to be done on the decision will take place this weekend.
Gass has a few more things to tinker and think about as his decision closes in. The four-star linebacker will lean on family.
“Getting down to the tee, it’s about sitting down with my family that’s a big thing for me and getting all their feelings on it,” Gass said. “It’s a feeling thing for me and a coaching thing for me. It’s about how I’m going to be coached. Playing time isn’t really a big thing for me. If I go in and do what I got to do, then, I’m going to play. The other thing is positionally where do they see me. Will I go in as an edge or will I just be a stack backer?”
Final three have made Christian Gass a priority
Georgia, Tennessee and USC were the first three programs to offer Gass this spring. He hasn’t forgotten that.
He’s also been on campus at each school. For Gass, he wanted to feel the love. He feels it’s something you can feel pretty easily when spending time with a coaching staff. Gass was also fond of all three cultures at each program.
“When I narrowed it down to my top three the biggest thing for me was life after football,” Gass said. “As a position, I want to play both edge and stack backer. Knowing the coaches, they had a real genuine love…You can really tell what love is genuine. In my top three, I could tell I was a priority. The love was genuine. It wasn’t just about me either. I watched how you talked to me people and how you interacted with other people. That’s all big to me. I also looked at the defensive schemes and how you teach your players. I went into the film room and how things were in the film room. Are you asking questions? Are they reciprocating the energy or are they just sitting there and writing down stuff?”
Gass is still working on a final decision. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Florida who is no longer on the board.
There has been a lot of buzz around Tennessee this week. The Volunteers were Gass’ final official visit on June 21.
The four-star linebacker will announce his decision on July 20.
