Texas offers Auburn commitment out of Florida
The Texas Longhorns extended an offer to one of the top senior riser defensive linemen in the country Monday.
Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis made the call today to Miami (Fla.) Norland High’s Dimitry Nicolas and offered.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound South Florida area point of attack defender has interest in the Longhorns according to a person close to the recruitment.
With the call to make the offer in the rearview mirror, the Texas staff will continue to build a relationship and work to get Nicolas on campus prior to the December signing period.
Nicolas committed to Auburn August 25 over Pittsburgh, Miami and Florida. He made an unofficial to Auburn July 29 for Big Cat weekend. Auburn defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett is the primary recruiter for Auburn.
Nicolas has picked up 20 offers throughout the recruiting process. That list includes Colorado, Ole Miss and Penn State.
Nicolas recorded 33 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and eight sacks as a junior at Monsignor Pace High. He transferred to Miami Norland High for his senior season. Norland High is 5-0 on the season with Nicolas facing double teams on nearly every snap.
The Dade County prospect is the No. 780 ranked prospect in the 2024 cycle. He checks in as the No. 73 ranked defensive lineman, and No. 102 ranked prospect in the state of Florida.
