Lucky Charms: Two key Notre Dame recruits to visit in October
Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.
*** Lucedale (Miss.) George County’s Deuce Knight, the nation’s No. 39 overall prospect and No. 3 quarterback per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, has been committed to Notre Dame for a week now, and it’s been pretty fun to see how active he is public he is about his support of the Fighting Irish and hear about how hard he’s recruiting for ND behind the scenes. He did a really good job outlining to me in an article earlier today about what he says to recruits, and from my conversations with receiver prospects in particular the past few days, they are really fired up about the potential of playing with him.
It’s important for Knight to be a regular in South Bend. It’s obviously going to be difficult for him to make up to South Bend as much as Saline (Mich.) High class of 2024 signal-caller commit CJ Carr is able to do considering proximity to campus (Carr has been to campus 17 times by our count), but Knight wants to make it to campus as much as possible. And he tells Blue & Gold that he’s already planning to get back to South Bend Oct. 14 for the USC game, which will be another huge recruiting weekend for the Irish.
*** Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange’s Ivan Taylor, who ranks as the No. 96 overall player and No. 8 safety according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, informed Blue & Gold that he’ll be back in South Bend Oct. 28 for the Pittsburgh game. It’ll be Taylor’s third visit to campus. He dominated at Irish Invasion in early June and added an offer from Notre Dame and returned to campus at the end of July for the staff’s “Grill and Chill” event.
I currently have a prediction logged for Notre Dame to land Taylor. He’s visiting Notre Dame more than other schools and is vibing with the Irish coaching staff.
Taylor, who is the son of former NFL defensive back Ike Taylor, has offers from his home state of Florida as well as the likes of Alabama, Penn State, Michigan, Ole Miss and others. As far as proximity to home is considered, Taylor will play ball anywhere.
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll go to Alaska as long as I can play football,” he previously told Blue & Gold.
