Texas Football returns, picks up right where it left off this Spring
IT caught up with some sources and here’s the latest on your national title contending Longhorns.
– The players jumped right back into it after having the month of May off. “There was no grace period, no cruising in.” They did everything they will be doing in the middle of summer. The team didn’t miss a beat. Everybody was accountable and doing the right things as far as effort, punctuality, etc.
– The player run practices ran smoothly with good leadership on offense and defense. Everybody knows how to practice the right way, running to the ball, keeping people off the ground, practicing like a pro, getting up field after a reception, running backs sprinting through the play, etc.
– Quinn Ewers is doing a good job of directing the younger players and working with freshman quarterback Trey Owens. QE has reached the point in his career where he’s coaching people up on what they’re supposed to do in certain situations and based on what looks they’re getting.
– “This was the best Week 1 of Sark’s tenure.” That’s exactly how you dial it up, though it doesn’t always work that way. Sark’s incremental program build continues apace.
– Guys came back in shape. “By now everyone understands Becton is going to run them to death during the Summer. I’d bet the players ran more in May than they lifted.”
– Fridays are the most demanding with all the running. They do 110s, gassers, and agility drills. It sounds more like a track practice.
– Sark wants to be the fastest team in the country but they have to be strong too going into the SEC.
– The praise IT heard about Silas Bolden bordered on erotic. “That dude can roll!” More on Silas to come.
– Jermayne Lole‘s size checks out — he’s at least bigger than Aaron Bryant.
– Quinn looked good in 7 on 7. Wingo’s still getting some reps with the ones. All the receivers looked good. On the other side of the ball we heard not a lot of busted coverages in the secondary.
