Tanner Terch commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?
Matt Rhule is becoming known for grabbing great athletes and finding a home for them on the field. Tanner Terch could play several positions for Nebraska. It seems he is destined to start his career on defense, but the Huskers are keeping the door open to offense and he would like a shot on special teams. Terch is the seventh known commitment for Nebraska in the 2025 class.
Here is a breakdown of Tanner Terch and what his commitment means for Nebraska:
1. Things moved quickly between Nebraska and Terch. The 6-foot-2 and 175-pound athlete was excited about taking a trip to see what Nebraska was all about, but didn’t anticipate leaving Lincoln with an offer. Before the offer from Nebraska, Terch was only holding an offer from Army.
2. Terch should be considered an athlete in the class, but since he thinks Nebraska likes him on defense he will go down as a defensive back in the class. He cited that it seemed like there were multiple wide receiver commitments in the class already.
3. We have been talking about Heritage HS since last June and will continue talking about Heritage into 2026. Current Husker Rex Guthrie played with Terch last year. The Huskers have also offered 2026 Camden Jensen, who also plays for Heritage, and is considered to be the top player in Colorado next year.
4. Just a couple of weeks ago, recruiting guru Tom Lemming was in Colorado and met with Terch. Lemming stated that Terch was the “biggest sleeper in the state of Colorado 2025”. Terch has speed. He claims a 4.4/40 time and has a 100m PR of 10.9.
5. There is some added value here with Terch. He believes that Matt Rhule and Nebraska want him to play on defense, or look at him first on defense, but Terch is a very accomplished wide receiver with good size and speed. You have to also appreciate his approach to blocking as a wide receiver.

6. There is a lot to like about Terch. It begins with his love for the game and selflessly allowing the Nebraska staff to put him at the best spot on the field for him and the team. His attitude about special teams isn’t something that you find everyday. You just can’t have enough of these players on your team. “I would love to play on special teams. It’s one of my favorite things to do in football.”
7. Matt Rhule took two players from Colorado last year. Previously mentioned Guthrie caught Ruhle’s eye in summer camp last year as did IOL Landen Davidson from Broomfield (Colo.) as part of the 2024 class. Rhule and his staff added D’Andre Barnes from Aurora (Colo.) Regis Jesuit very late in the process for the 2023 class.
