Shane Beamer Football Camp Insider: Day 2

Shane Beamer Football Camp Insider: Day 2

The South Carolina football staff hosted Day 2 of the Shane Beamer Football Camp Friday as the Gamecocks once again had prospects from the 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028 on campus to work out.

Below are some notes to know from the day.

— Much like Jaquel Holman last week and countless in-state prospects beforehand, playing the role of intriguing in-state athlete today was Greer (S.C.) Riverside class of 2025 three-star wide receiver/tight end Mikkel Skinner.

I actually was working on a couple of paragraphs on Skinner for a future edition of the Carolina Confidential because Skinner is scheduled to be on campus with his team on June 17 but he decided to go ahead and make a last minute camp stop today too.

The real question for Skinner, who recently received an 89 rating (high three-star) from On3 is whether he’s a receiver or tight end at the next level.

Skinner measured in at a touch over 6-foot-3, 217-pounds and I was told he was physically one of the best looking prospects there.

As far as I know, he did not run in testing today but has verified measurables from Under Armour of 4.53 in the 40, 4.37 in the shuttle, and 34.8 inches in the vertical.

As of this writing, I have not heard of an offer going out but believe he’s under strong consideration for one.

Cincinnati and West Virginia have done a great job recruiting him to this point with Cincy getting him on campus last week and WVU set to get him on campus this month too. But I believe a South Carolina offer would move the needle.

— South Carolina recruiting fans will remember the last name Ogboko from South Carolina targeting 2024 DL Nnamdi Ogboko and now his brother Ekene Ogboko is one of the top offensive tackles in the 2026 class.

Ogobko arrived in the afternoon, missing the testing portion, but participated in the 1-on-1 portion in the afternoon. As Gamecock Central’s Joe Macheca passed along, Ogboko definitely looked the part, light on his feet for a big man, and compares favorably physically to Josiah Thompson.

— Peachtree City (Ga.) Mcintosh class of 2025 three-star ATH Evan Ward is listed as an “athlete” by On3 but worked out as an outside linebacker/EDGE for South Carolina today. He’s on the board as an offer possibility.

— Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork class of 2025 DL Carl Fulmer is another under-the-radar prospect who is officially on our radar as a prospect to watch. Fulmer is raw as a player but has the measurables you’re looking for at 6-foot-3+, 294-pounds. Checking in with someone who has seen him play, I’m told he has a high upside and can move well for his size.

— Fairfield Central class of 2026 wide receiver Jayden Boyd turned in the fastest 40-yard-dash of the day that I’m aware of with a 4.38-second 40. That’s two straight Carolina camps with a 40 in the 4.3s for Boyd.
