Setting the Stage: Three safety prospects to know for Ohio State in the 2026 class
COLUMBUS – After a busy offseason full of camps and visits, top targets are starting to emerge for Ohio State in the 2026 class.
Ohio State has already offered over 150 prospects in the class and many made their way to Columbus this offseason. Additionally, several of them earned offers from Ohio State at camp this summer.
As the Ohio State coaching staff starts to shift their focus to the 2026 class, Lettermen Row will be going position by position to highlight three prospects for Buckeye fans to know next cycle. Today we will finish up the series with the safety position.
Bralan Womack
In every recruiting class there are a few prospects that seem like perfect fits for Ohio State based on their character off the field and high-level ability on it.
Four-star Brandon (Miss.) Hartfield Academy safety Bralan Womack is one of those prospects in the 2026 class. Womack, the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 3 safety in the On3 Industry Rankings, camped at Ohio State on June 5 and left Columbus with a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes.
After his visit, Womack spoke with Lettermen Row’s Matt Parker about what it meant to be offered by the Buckeyes.
“I don’t want to say it was emotional, but it was that feeling like ‘wow,’” Womack told Lettermen Row. “You’re starting to see things in your life change. Dreams starting to come true. We just sat there and talked. There’s not another Ohio State, there’s not a fan base like Ohio State.
“Iron sharpens iron day in and day out in practice. You’re going against the best wide receivers in the country, you can’t run from the smoke. Everybody’s getting better.”
Womack is a top target for Ohio State safeties coach Matt Guerrieri in the 2026 class and his interest in the Buckeyes seem to be mutual. Notre Dame and Texas were two other big offers for Womack this summer.
Jordan Thomas
Ohio State has quietly recruited the state of New Jersey well in the past several recruiting classes, particularly at the safety position.
The Buckeyes signed Ronnie Hickman out of New Jersey in 2019, Jayden Bonsu in 2023, Jaylen McClain in 2024 and have four-star Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic safety DeShawn Stewart in the 2025 class.
The next New Jersey safety to know is four-star Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic athlete Jordan Thomas who is a top target for Ohio State in the 2026 class. Thomas, the No. 239 overall prospect and No. 17 athlete in the On3 Industry Rankings, is not the highest ranked safety target for the Buckeyes next cycle but is near the top of the board for Matt Guerrrieri.
The 6-foot and 175-pound Thomas camped at Ohio State in June and spoke highly of his time in Columbus after the visit.
“Ohio State makes me feel like a priority based on our strong relationship,” Thomas told Lettermen Row. “The coaches there believe in my ability and expressed that I am fit to play in their program. They love the fact that I am coachable, competitive, and how much I pay attention to detail.”
Thomas’ high school teammate, and four-star wide receiver, Quincy Porter is committed to Ohio State in the 2025 class.
Blaine Bradford
Ohio State does not typically recruit the state of Louisiana but the Buckeyes have offered three of the top six prospects from the Bayou State in the 2026 class.
One of those three prospects in four-star Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic safety Blaine Bradford. The Buckeyes offered Bradford after a strong camp in June and he recently included Ohio State in his top five along with Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Oregon.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Bradford is the No. 13 overall prospect and the No. 1 safety in the On3 Industry Rankings. He also ranks as the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 safety in the 2026 On300.
Ohio State will need to get Bradford back on campus this fall to realistically have a shot in this recruitment but the Buckeyes are in the battle.
