ScoopDuck Eval: Dakorien Moore

The Ducks just landed one of the truly elite players in the country. An absolutely massive pickup for Oregon on the offensive side of the ball.

Oregon’s wide receiver room could be loaded for years to come with the addition of Duncanville (Texas) five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore. Don’t believe me, just look at the eval from my guy QB11.

BOOM! Absolutely monstrous commitment adding the number one WR in the country from the State of Texas. This is a monumental commitment on multiple levels but where it starts is with just how great of a prospect Moore is. It’s easy to get caught up in the stars, the #1 ranking and the fact that he was the top WR on Oregon, Texas, LSU, and Ohio States board. Ultimately that’s all great and fun to talk about but it distracts from the player himself.

Moore is an extremely explosive WR with a rare combination of straight line speed and change of direction/body control. Running a PR 10.40 100m as a junior Moore will be one of the fastest WR’s Oregon has ever signed. However what makes him special is his ability to change directions is special even among his 5 star peers. The ability to make cuts at full speed go from 0-100 and then back to 0 is elite. Hes a crafty and well developed route runner and makes big time catches outside his frame despite only being 5’11. At the OT7 finals he used his freakishly large 10” hands to secure multiple contested high point catches against elite competition. He creates separation at all 3 levels and post catch has the juice to eat angles of pursuit defenders. Playing 6a DFW HS football means he’s seen the best competition you can possibly see at the highschool level and he still sticks out like a sore thumb in the best way.

Major props to Junior Adams, Will Stein, Dan Lanning and DO not underestimate the massive impact that Rashaad Samples had on this pickup. Pairing guys like Dallas Wilson and Dakorien Moore is what National Title teams are made of. Oregon is damn serious in their pursuit of a title and this is yet another example that the people in charge are capable of making it happen.
