RADAR ’25: Newly hired Lino Lupinetti making four-star safety a priority
Michigan State executive director of player personnel/recruiting Mark Diethorn has rounded out his staff, hiring Lino Lupinetti as assistant director of player personnel. Lupinetti previously spent time on staff at Virginia Tech in the Hokies recruiting department. Since joining the Spartan staff in August, Lupinetti has made his presence felt on the recruiting trail, specifically in the class of 2025.
Althought Michigan State has not extended an offer yet, one of the first early targets Lupinetti narrowed down to is four-star safety Jaylen Mosley, of Jackson (TN) Christian. The 6-foot, 195-pounder currently ranks a four-star, the No. 309 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He also ranks the No. 25 safety and the No. 10 recruit in Tennessee. Mosley holds other offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Purdue, and more.
“I have been chopping it up with Lino, that’s my man,” Mosley told SpartanMag.com. “He was recruiting me when he was at Virginia Tech, so I keep in touch with him. I think it was a good move. I talked to him and I believe he thinks so as well.”
Mosley is still learning more about Michigan State, watching youtube videos on the Spartans and listening to Lupinetti. The Spartan staff will likely extend an offer after evaluting a couple games of the four-star’s junior film.
“He just let me know on how big it is, about the new locker rooms, and things like that but I’ve been looking at Michigan State for a while,” Mosley said. “I’m just waiting on the offer. From what I have seen, it looks cool, I’ve never been up there though,” Mosley said. “I’ve seen it on YouTube and stuff.”
The Tennessee recruit caught 82 catches for 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2022 as a sophomore. He’s also been a weapon in the backfield, running the ball 100 times for 1,103 yards and 10 more scores.
