Oklahoma State Board of Regents schedules ‘special’ meeting, sparks Mike Gundy speculation
The Oklahoma State Board of Regents has scheduled a “special” meeting for Friday at 7:30 a.m., according to its website. The meeting was added Wednesday and will take place before the regularly scheduled board meeting begins at 10 a.m.
There is no other information provided as to what will be discussed during the meeting, but many have speculated that it could be to discuss changes in the football program. The Cowboys are coming off of their worst season under coach Mike Gundy, finishing 3-9 and failing to win a single Big 12 game.
Rumors of potential staff changes have been brewing all year and are only heating up after a 52-0 loss to Colorado in the season finale. Defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo as well as offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn are certainly on the hot seat.
However, the announcement of the board meeting now calls into question whether OSU is considering a change at head coach. Gundy is currently under contract through the 2028 season and would be owed a whopping $25.3 million in buyout money if the Cowboys decided to fire him.
This story will be updated.
