Former Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell scored his first career touchdown in the NFL on Thursday Night Football, breaking a 3-3 tie with an 11-yard score in the second quarter of 49ers-Giants. Bell had a special teams tackle before his touchdown. Former Michigan kicker Jake Moody, also a 49ers rookie, had made a field goal before and extra point after Bell’s touchdown. Michigan senior wide receiver Roman Wilson was named the seventh best player at his position in the country heading into week four. He’s second in the Big Ten behind top ranked Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State, widely considered to be a top-10 NFL Draft pick next spring. Former Michigan signee Xavier Worthy, now at Texas, ranks No. 4.

We named Wilson Michigan’s No. 2 player of the first three games of the season. Here’s what was written about Wilson:

A touchdown machine, Roman Wilson became Michigan’s second player ever to register 6 touchdown receptions in the first three games of a season, joining Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard, who had an identical number to open the 1991 campaign.

Through Week 3, Wilson and Vanderbilt’s Will Sheppard are tied atop the country with 6 scoring catches. He’s second on the team with 209 receiving yards, behind graduate Cornelius Johnson (224).

Quote Of The Day

“There’s no amount of scheme that he can’t handle. It’s like having a second quarterback on the field. He knows where he’s going to cut the football pre-snap, it seems like, based on how the defense is aligned and how he studies them on film. He’s just wowed me from that perspective. His toughness and effort are what I can’t get over. I’ve seen anyone give more effort when the ball is in his hands than when he carries it. Michigan is getting the best player in Ohio.”

— Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller head coach Bert Bathiany on Michigan running back commit Jordan Marshall to TheWolverine.com
