Miami four-star RB pledge Girard Pringle eager to get back on campus for official visit this weekend with Alabama pushing
During the spring, Tampa (Fla.) Armwood four-star 2025 Miami running back commit Girard Pringle was no stranger to Coral Gables after making three trips to see the Hurricanes in a two-month span.
Now Pringle and his family are set to see Miami once more, as he is set to take his official visit this weekend.
“I’m excited to finally get back with my family,” Pringle told CaneSport. “I’m looking forward to talking with the coaches and bonding with them once again while we spend a lot of time together.”
Since the 5-foot-10, 185-pound back last visited Miami, his relationship with the entire Hurricanes coaching staff has continued to strengthen. When in talks with the staff, Pringle explained how the conversations are mostly about life rather than football.
“It’s been great, and my bond has been getting stronger with the whole coaching staff,” Pringle said. “We talk more about life than football, and we just continue to bond.”
During his upcoming official visit, he is excited to talk X’s and O’s with the staff. Miami running back coach Matt Merritt has shown him a glimpse of how the Hurricanes envision him in their offense.
Pringle, who is the No. 106 overall prospect in the On300 and No. 6 running back in the class, rushed for 1,683 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.
“(Merritt) lets me know that I’m going to be used in a lot of different ways,” Pringle said. “We talk about how they can throw me passes out of the backfield and how I’m a complete back.”

Heading into his official visit, Pringle is locked in with the Hurricanes despite recent pushes from Alabama and new head coach Jalen DeBoer and his staff. Pringle’s strong relationship with Merritt and Miami’s staff is key, and we think a strong official visit could potentially keep the Crimson Tide away for the foreseeable future. “The relationship (with Merritt) is continuously growing,” Pringle said. “The bond with me and coach Merritt is just getting stronger and stronger as we’re getting to know each other. Our families met each other. Everything’s just great. He’s telling me what I can do for the program, lets me know I’m a game changer and I can change the program, and everyone on the coaching staff loves my talent. I know that I’m going to be used in each and every type of way.”
