JUCO DL Brien Taylor adds offer from Auburn, locks in official visit
Junior college defensive lineman Brien Taylor added an offer from Auburn football on Friday.
Taylor, who attends Blinn Community College in Texas, learned of the offer during a conversation with Auburn defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett.
“Coach Garrett called me,” Taylor said. “They were on the bus on the way to (Texas) A&M. He told me he was offering me, and that they don’t just throw offers at anybody. He told me I could come in there and make a big impact.”
Taylor was excited to hear the news.
“It felt great,” he said. “I like Auburn, especially with my brother, Dillon Wade, there. Auburn automatically rolls to the top of the ranks.
“I also like Coach Garrett. Just from talking to him, he has a good vibe. He believes in what I can do for their program.”
Taylor, Wade ‘go way back’
Taylor and Wade are childhood best friends. They attended the same high school, Cypress Falls, and have talked about playing together in college since they were young.
“Me and Dillon talk every day,” he said. “We go way back. We have been through it all together. This was all a dream at one point and now it could becoming a reality.”
Taylor will get to see Wade soon. He plans to take an official visit to Auburn in October.
“I got that set for Oct. 21,” he said. “That’s the date we’re working on. It’s when (Auburn) plays Ole Miss at home. That would be an official visit.”
Auburn will send a coach to Texas for an evaluation visit in two weeks.
“It will be Coach Garrett or one of the other coaches,” he said.
In addition to Auburn, Taylor has set two other official visits.
“I got Georgia Nov. 11 and Florida Nov. 25,” he said.
Taylor is on pace to graduate Blinn in December and enroll at a four-year school in January. He’ll have two years of eligibility.

New JUCO DL to track
Auburn has reached out to junior college defensive lineman Brien Taylor. Defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett and defensive line assistant Vontrell King-Williams both have been communicating with Taylor.
The Tigers have not offered, but could be getting close. Florida offered on Thursday and others like Oklahoma State and Utah have offered. Taylor told GatorsOnline’s Keith Niebuhr that he’ll visit Oklahoma State this weekend and that the Cowboys are his current leader.
However, an offer from Auburn could change that. There’s a connection to the Tigers, a strong connection. Taylor played his high school ball at Cypress Falls in Texas. Who else played at Cypress Falls? Auburn’s starting left tackle Dillon Wade.
Taylor and Wade are childhood best friends and remain very close today. They talk often. They talk football often. And yes, they talk Auburn football and a potential future together on the Plains.
Wade is helping recruit Taylor to Auburn. A visit has not been set, but will be soon. Although Auburn has not offered Taylor, he’ll be one to track closely moving forward.
