Georgia holds strong at No. 1 per AP after turbulent Week One

The second edition of College Football’s AP Poll is out, and Georgia remains at No. 1. Receiving 58 of the possible 63 first place votes, the Bulldogs outpace Michigan, Alabama, Florida State and Ohio State for the top spot.

The Seminoles, after their dominant 45-24 win over No. 5 LSU, moved up four spots to No. 4. Meanwhile, Ohio State fell from No. 3 to No. 5 thanks to a less than convincing win over Indiana to open their season. Alabama moved up to No. 3 in their place.

USC, Penn State, Washington, Tennessee and Notre Dame make up the rest of the top 10. LSU and Clemson both fell out of the top 10 as a result of their respective losses.

Newcomers to the top 25 are Duke and Colorado at No. 21 and No. 22. SEC squads in the poll along with the previously mentioned Bulldogs, Crimson Tide, Volunteers and Tigers are Ole Miss and Texas A&M at No. 20 and No. 23. The conference’s six teams is tied for most of any in the country with the Pac-12.

Georgia’s schedule the rest of the way includes just two team currently ranked (Ole Miss and Tennessee). The Bulldogs do however have two teams in the “Others Receiving Votes” category with Kentucky and Auburn.
