Four-star 2025 PF has a “great experience” in return trip to Alabama

Four-star 2025 PF has a “great experience” in return trip to Alabama

Shiloh (Ga.) High School’s Tylis Jordan has familiarized himself well with Alabama’s basketball program.

The No. 18 power forward in the Class of 2025 made the trip to Tuscaloosa last October. Nearly a year removed from that visit, Jordan was back at Bama once again this past weekend. Jordan took in a practice on Saturday afternoon and watched the Tide’s football season opener before leaving Sunday morning.

“It was a great experience,” Jordan told BamaOnLine. “I went there last year before the coaching staff changes with a lot of the assistants. Got to see what they do, their offense, and the football game atmosphere. Just interacted with all sorts of people out there.”

Last season, Jordan says he liked what he saw from Alabama true freshmen Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney, specifically the development of Clowney.

After keeping tabs on their season and watching them practice multiple times in person, Jordan has taken a liking to Alabama’s mentality on offense.

“It’s a great system,” Jordan said. “Everyone gets the ball, pushes it up, and makes a play. It’s always about making a play. Just make a play for one another… it’s a very free system. Not restrictive. They put you in the best position to be successful.”

Alabama extended an offer to Jordan back on Sept. 22, 2022. He holds 15 total reported offers, including ones from the likes of Auburn, Cincinnati, LSU, and Texas A&M.

Jordan still has plenty of time left in his recruitment, but thinks highly of the Crimson Tide

“They’re definitely up there,” Jordan said of Bama. “One of the ones that keeps in contact with me, and they also call my mother. They keep in contact weekly. The system, they have a free system that won’t restrict my play. They have a good emphasis on wing play. They shoot a lot of threes, so there is a lot of spacing.”

On the topic of his contact with Nate Oats’ program, Jordan hears the most from Alabama’s Christian Pino.

“Coach Pino reaches out to my mother and I a lot,” Jordan said. “Really just checking in. Seeing how everything is going. He came in and watched me a lot throughout this whole summer with AAU. Just has been watching me and telling me to keep working, keep grinding.”

Nate Oats compares Jordan to a former Alabama player

Although Pino is his primary person of contact from Alabama, these two trips to T-Town have afforded him an opportunity to bond with Nate Oats. Jordan is impressed with what he’s seen from Oats both on and off the court.

“Coach Oats is a down-to-earth guy. Pretty cool,” Jordan said. “I call him the ‘On-Campus Celebrity.’ He’s walking around with his shades on, waving at everyone. He’s a pretty cool guy. From what I’ve seen, he trust his guys’ abilities. He trusts what each and every player on that roster can do when they get on the court.”

Jordan has even drawn a comparison from Oats to one of the greatest Bama players in program history.

“Coach Oats kind of compared me to [Brandon] Miller considering I got measured there Saturday, and they have me at 6-foot-9.5 with shoes on,” Jordan said. “He likes my outside shooting, like B-Miller. Being able to run the offense, come off those screen-and-rolls, make those good reads, and score anywhere. I think I make pretty sound, good decisions.”

The top-90 overall junior prospect in the country further elaborated on his skill set and where he excels at.

“I’m a big wing,” Jordan said. “I’m able to be super versatile offensively and defensively. Guard multiple positions. Go inside or outside. Set the screen and pop if I need to. Bring it up if I need to. Be that player that won’t be restricted to only being here or only being there. Pretty much doing everything.”

Jordan has considered releasing a top schools list, but has no time frame for narrowing his list or making a decision. Besides Alabama, he is in frequent contact with the likes of Auburn, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. The Volunteers are slated to host him on campus for an unofficial visit on Oct. 14.
