Four-star WR Jayden Petit high on Miami and WR coach Kevin Beard: “It feels like home and I just love it over there”
Since the end of his sophomore year, Naples (Fla.) First Baptist Academy four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit has begun to establish himself as one of the top pass catchers in the country. One program that has been there since the beginning has been the Miami Hurricanes – the 2026 prospect is high on UM at the moment.
“The relationship is great, and I love Miami,” Petit told CaneSport. “It feels like home, and I just love it over there.”
As a sophomore, the 6-foot-4, 196-pounder hauled in 66 receptions for 1,141 yards and 16 touchdowns. Since then, Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard and a handful of Canes staffers have been in consistent contact.
“They’re hitting me up almost every day,” Petit said. “A few different guys from the staff have been in contact and are always hitting me up, so I really appreciate it.”
After taking a few visits to Miami last fall, Petit, who is the No. 156 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, feels comfortable in South Florida.
“The feeling I get is like I’m at home and I’ve got family around,” Petit said. “I feel like I can talk with everybody, and I’m really cool with everybody.”
Petit is also a big fan of the Hurricanes offense under coordinator Shannon Dawson.
“They pass a lot, and I like how they get the ball out to their receivers,” Petit said. “They also have a balanced game, so overall they have a balanced offense, which I like.”
Along with Miami, he’s also high on progams like Purdue, West Virginia and Indiana.
“The development and how well we get to know each other,” Petit said when asked what he looked for in a program. “Just those things and the relationship between the players and the coaching staff.”
Later this summer, he will be back on Miami’s campus with hopes of continuing to strengthen his bond with the staff while learning more about the program.
“I’m looking forward to just seeing everybody and having a lot of fun,” Petit said.

Petit is one of Miami’s top wide receiver targets in the 2026 class and a prospect the Hurricanes are in a good spot early with. So he’s one we will be monitoring closely as his recruitment continues.
