Four-star WR Davion Brown shares spring visit date to Penn State and a change to his official visit schedule

Four-star WR Davion Brown shares spring visit date to Penn State and a change to his official visit schedule

Penn State will welcome back Virginia wide receiver Davion Brown for a visit later this spring.

On Thursday, the four-star prospect from Richmond confirmed that he’s planning an overnight visit to State College the weekend of April 25-26. Head coach James Franklin and his team have a light practice planned for that Friday. He’ll then stick around for the Blue-White Game the next day.

About a month ago, the Trinity Episcopal prospect confirmed that Penn State was one of five schools he was still seriously considering, adding that Duke, Georgia, Michigan and Syracuse were also in the mix. Two of those schools will also host him this spring, beginning with a visit to Georgia on March 22. That’ll be followed by a trip to Ann Arbor on April 12. The trip to Michigan will be his first. He visited Athens for the first time in January.

Between those two, Brown said he also plans to give Virginia Tech another look. That visit is set to take place on March 29. Tech and Michigan don’t currently have official visits set, but Brown did say that the Wolverines are likely to earn an official visit a few weeks ago.

Previously, Brown had all four weekends in June booked, but he also confirmed Thursday that his previously scheduled trip to Syracuse, which was May 30 to June 1, is now in limbo following Ross Douglas’ move to Oregon. The rest of his schedule remains intact, beginning with Penn State, June 6-8. He then plans to be at Georgia, June 13-15, followed by Duke just before the dead period begins, June 20-22.

Following Jerquaden Guilford’s decision to back out of his commitment to Penn State last week, Brown has become an even bigger priority for the Nittany Lions moving forward. He’s one of three Virginia natives that the staff has been pursuing heavily. The other two are Connor Salmin, who lives in Purcellville but now plays at the Bullis School just across the Maryland border, as well as Chespeake native Travis Johnson, who plays at Oscar Smith. Just like Brown, Penn State plans to host Salmin and Johnson the weekend of June 6-8.

New York native Messiah Hampton also remains a key target. The Rochester native confirmed with On3 just yesterday that he’ll take an official visit to Penn State May 16-18. It’s currently unclear if Salmin, Hampton or Johnson will visit State College this spring.
