Caleb Foster announces return to Duke for 2025-26 season

Caleb Foster has been a key piece of the backcourt rotation through his pair of seasons at Duke. He’ll now continue that as an upperclassman with a return to Durham.
Foster is one of the hosts of the program’s podcast titled ‘The Brotherhood Podcast’. It was on that show this morning that Foster announced he’d be returning to the team for his junior year with the Blue Devils.
“What’s up, Duke fans? It’s C-Fos here,” Foster said. “As I mentioned before on previous podcasts that, growing up, it’s always been a dream of mine, chasing championships here at Duke. That has not changed and I’m excited to announce that I’ll be coming back for my junior year to keep going and keep pursuing to get that national championship, number six.”
Foster has appeared in 65 games, just a third of those being starts, the last two years for Duke. He has averaged 6.1 points (42.7% FG, 37.3% 3PT), 2.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in that collegiate career there. His stats dropped, though, to 4.9 points (41.7% FG, 34.2% 3PT), 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists as a sophomore this season, in large part because of the team success and the amount of guards and ball-handlers they had this year.
With that, Foster is one of the top names who could have been expected to come back. Kon Knueppel is headed to the NBA Draft with every expectation being that Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach will join him. Tyrese Proctor and Sion James, two of those many guards this season, are then respectively unannounced about their future plans or are out of eligibility. Now, because of those, Foster could see his role expand, especially as a possible starting guard for them, alongside whatever other players return or transfers come in plus the No. 3 recruiting class in the country.
