Report: Florida State coach Luke Loucks hiring Sacramento Kings assistant Jim Moran

First-year Florida State head coach Luke Loucks has dipped back into his NBA background to land his top assistant coach. According to the Sacramento Observer, Loucks has hired Sacramento Kings assistant Jim Moran to his first Seminoles coaching staff.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported early Thursday morning that Moran’s position at FSU will be as associate head coach/offensive coordinator.

Sources tell @sacobserver that Sacramento Kings assistant Jim Moran has accepted a position as an assistant at Florida State University under head coach Luke Loucks.

Moran has been an NBA assistant for the last decade, working for the Portland Trail Blazers (2015-21), Detroit Pistons (2021-23) and Kings (2024-25). Prior to that, the 6-foot-11 Moran spent 10 years playing internationally for the Gran Canaria in Spain.
