Area Top-50 RB prospect says his interest in Miami Hurricanes interest isn’t waning after Georgia Tech loss

Area Top-50 RB prospect says his interest in Miami Hurricanes interest isn’t waning after Georgia Tech loss

Miami’s 23-20 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday night certainly was devastating to fans. But it was far from that as it pertains to the Hurricanes’ chances with Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage four-star 2025 running back Deandre Desinor.

Desinor, the No. 50 overall 2025 prospect in the On300, has been a strong supporter of the Hurricanes and hasn’t backed away from voicing his interest in Miami since this summer, when contact with Miami’s staff first picked up. He’s now hearing from Miami coaches no fewer than three times per week and has largely communicated with running backs coach Tim Harris Jr., who has communicated to Desinor the importance of keeping elite South Florida talent home.

“The start of the game, it was pretty good,” Desinor said. “It was just crazy how it ended. I didn’t really expect that. It was a very good atmosphere. That was something I loved, and then Club Liv (the Miami recruits section) and everything. And then the fans, I really liked them too.

“I still view it as ‘you win some, you lose some,’” Desinor continued. “I’m not going to judge them just because that happened. It’s football. It happens. I understand it happens sometimes. I don’t look at Miami in a different way or anything.”

Desinor said he’s “always wanted to play at Miami” since he was a child, and he’s loved being recruited by his hometown school. He added he’s always had a special appreciation for the Hurricanes and understands what Miami can be at its peak — a national-championship winning powerhouse and the country’s premiere football program.

Miami has remained in strong standing with Desinor throughout his recruiting process, although the state’s other Power Five universities have been firmly in the picture as well. He hasn’t given tremendous thought to his ideal recruiting timeline and has acknowledged that he’s still very early in his recruiting process.

He holds more than a dozen Power Five offers including Texas, Florida, Florida State, Penn State and Texas A&M.

CaneSport’s Take

Desinor is part of Heritage’s thunder and lightning running back combination that also features top-300 prospect Byron Louis, a larger, more downhill-running power back, both of whom Miami has recruited heavily since coaches became permitted to directly contact 2025 prospects Aug. 1. Miami’s chances with many of its recruits don’t seem particularly devastated by the loss. Miami will also have its share of chances to make up for a loss it hopes ends up as an anomaly on its final record.
