A school is starting to trend for Ryder Lyons, the only Top 10 QB in the 2026 class that is uncommitted
On Saturday, Faizon Brandon committed to Tennessee and Jonas Williams committed to Oregon. Brandon is the No. 2 quarterback and Williams is the No. 9 quarterback in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankin.
Now that those two have announced their commitments, only one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the next cycle is uncommitted.
Jared Curtis is No. 1 and he committed to Georgia in March. Dia Bell is No. 4 and he committed to Texas early in June. Brady Smigiel is No. 5 and he committed to Florida State in June. Oklahoma landed Jaden O’Neal‘s commitment in June and he is the No. 6 quarterback in the country. Troy Huhn (Penn State) is No. 7, Brady Hart (Michigan) is No. 8 and Noah Grubbs (Notre Dame) is No. 10. All those committed last month as well.
The only quarterback left in the top 10 that hasn’t committed yet is Ryder Lyons. The No. 3 quarterback in the country out of Folsom (Calif.) is fresh off a trip to SEC country where he made stops at Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. He has also visited BYU numerous times, where he has family connections as well as Oregon and USC.
There is still no timeline for Lyons to make his decision, and the other quarterbacks committing have not impacted his decision at all. He has a plan in place, he has taken the process at his speed and he knows what he is looking for in a school.
Back in the spring, we talked about Oregon and USC being schools to watch. That has not changed. He likes both staffs and has had good dialogue with them. Even with Williams committed, the Ducks are still on his list. Ole Miss is one that caught his eye on the SEC swing. Auburn surprised him as well.
With summer visits done, the buzz has picked up a little behind the USC Trojans. You have head coach Lincoln Riley as the leader, he is known for developing quarterbacks, Ryder likes the offense, and then his brother, Walker Lyons, will start his career in Los Angeles as a tight end this season.
Lyons could make a decision in August, he could take some visits to games in the fall, but at this stage, USC looks to have emerged as the team to beat. I have logged a prediction for the Trojans on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Lyons is the No. 12 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.
