Fran McCaffery talks loss to Spartans

It was an all too familiar story for Fran McCaffery and the Iowa basketball team. While they did once again get off to a very strong start and held a lead at the half against the to team in the Big Ten Conference, it was the second half that did his team in, giving up 61 points after the break.

Following the loss, McCaffery spoke to the media about what changed in the second half…hint he pointed out the number of trips to the foul line by Michigan State. He also talked about what was clicking early on and the praise that he received from Tom Izzo in his press conference earlier after the game. McCaffery also talked about the way Payton Sandfort continued to battle and gave a less than optimistic health update on Drew Thelwell.
