Franklin (Mich.) Wylie E. Groves four-star interior offensive lineman Avery Gach has a long time remaining in his recruitment. However, he is already busy visiting schools.

This spring, Gach has went to Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame and multiple SEC schools including Alabama and Ole Miss. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound recruit also wants to see Georgia, Penn State and Wisconsin among others in the future.

“Culture matters to me and another thing is how schools and everybody at the campus treat me,” Gach told On3. “I look at how they win. Are they a good leadership program? Is it a player-led team? I have to love the campus and academics for sure.”

Both of Gach’s parents attended Michigan State. As a result, he was raised a Spartans fan, but the recruiting process has enabled him to learn more about other college football programs.

At the moment, Gach is focused on recording offers. Once he feels ready, the Michigan native will evaluate numerous contenders, while also gradually focusing on a select group of schools.

“I want to take my time,” said Gach, the No. 186 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “When the time’s right, I’ll make my decision or cut it down. I’m going to take my time and not rush anything at all.”

Gach discusses five schools of interest

Michigan: “Back-to-back Joe Moore awards is impressive. Their o-line coach, coach (Sherrone) Moore, is doing a great job. Their facilities are top-notch. They win.

“He’s a really good person,” he added about Moore. “My family likes him a lot. He’s done a really good job getting their o-linemen right over there and dominating in the run and pass game. It’s really impressive that he has helped Michigan win back-to-back Joe Moore Awards.”

Michigan State: “Their o-line coach is really impressive. I like coach (Chris Kapilovic) a lot. They have winning history there.”

Notre Dame: “They got a new o-line coach (Joe Rudolph) that I’m very interested in. The college football history there is really deep. Their academics are strong. The last visit was my first time actually seeing their campus and it’s pretty beautiful.”

Ohio State: “I really like them a lot. I really like coach (Justin) Frye a lot, I like coach (Ryan) Day a lot. He’s very personal. We were talking about how they win a lot.”

“It’s insane,” he added about the feeling inside Ohio Stadium. “There are around 100,000 people screaming at you. They treat their recruits really good on recruiting visits there as well. The atmosphere is very surreal.”

Ole Miss: “They were prepared to have me when we went on pretty short notice. We watched film with their o-line coach (John Garrison), who came from NC State. We watched film on Ikem (Ekwonu) and how he produced him to be a top-10 lineman. It was cool watching film with him.”
