In-state Georgia commit Tyler Williams eyeing fall return to Miami: “Their message me is they’re not going to stop recruiting me”
Although Riverview (Fla.) Armwood four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams committed to the Georgia Bulldogs in June, the Sunshine State pass catcher has not yet closed the door on the Miami Hurricanes.
In recent weeks, Canes wide receivers coach Kevin Beard and Miami’s staff have remained in contact with Williams, who says the Hurricanes are one of the select schools he has remained in talks with since committing to the Bulldogs.
“Their message is that they’re not going to stop recruiting me, and I appreciate it,” Williams told CaneSport. “It’s still a really good relationship. They’re really good people, and I enjoy talking to them.”
After initially planning to announce his commitment following his senior season, Williams announced his pledge in the summer following his official visit to Athens, choosing the Bulldogs over Miami and UCF.
“It felt good to get the pressure off my back a little,” Williams said. “I can focus on the season and do what I have to do. That’s something I’ll worry about later.”
Later this fall, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver plans to make his return to South Florida for a game-day visit with the Canes. Williams has high expectations for the program this season and wants to see the Hurricanes translate their talk into success on the field.
“I just want to see them continue to win,” Williams said. “I’m definitely going to be at some games. I just want to continue to see them win and progress.”
CaneSport’s take
Miami’s continued efforts to recruit Williams is no surprise, and after speaking with the four-star prospect, his interest in the Hurricanes still seems very legit. Williams, like many other recruits, is in a bit of a “wait and see” mode with the Hurricanes this upcoming fall. If Miami can win this fall and showcase an explosive offense, Williams could potentially emerge as a flip target down the road for the Canes, who currently have one wide receiver (Daylyn Upshaw) committed in the 2025 class.
