2027 OT Matt Erickson continues to develop relationships with Nebraska coaching staff
Nebraska offered 2027 offensive tackle Matt Erickson from Omaha (Neb.) Millard West last month. Erickson is a legacy, his father Mike Erickson played offensive line for the Huskers, has been building a relationship with Matt Rhule and his staff since they got to Lincoln. Erickson got plenty of time with the coaches and some of the players this weekend at Nebraska’s junior day which helped him continue to develop the relationship with Nebraska.
“We got to hang out with a bunch of the recruits, talk to some players and coaches, and then they put together a lot of events for us,” Erickson said.
“It was more about getting to know the other recruits, talking to the coaches again, and talking to the players who were down there.”
This weekend gave Erickson an excellent chance to talk more individually with the coaches and the players. He was also interested in hearing from the other recruits and what is going on with their recruiting.
“I got to have a lot more one-on-one time with the coaches this weekend,” Erickson said. “And, I got to talk to the players more. When I talked to the other recruits from the state and around the area, I was able to hear more about their recruiting process.”

Matt Erickson already has strong relationships at Nebraska
Erickson already has a strong relationship with Nebraska’s offensive line coach. He says he likes coming to Lincoln to talk to him, hear how the team is doing, and see what they are working on.
“Coach Raiola is easy to talk to,” Erickson said. He understands me. I like it when I get to talk to him and hear what they are doing there at Nebraska.”
Matt’s father, Mike Erickson, has seen many things change at Nebraska since he was there. Matt has talked to his dad about it and has been asking for advice when it comes to recruiting.
“Nebraska is really different than when he was there. His biggest piece of advice for me with recruiting is to take it one day at a time.”
There was a great opportunity for Matt and his father to catch up with a teammate of Mike’s and his two sons during the junior day event.
“It was very cool to have that time and see them,” Erickson said. My dad played with Dominic Raiola at Nebraska, so it was good to see him and his sons. This weekend was my first time meeting both Dylan Raiola and Dayton Raiola.”
Nebraska touched on game day invites with Erickson during the junior day visit. Erickson says that he plans to be back in Lincoln to see the Huskers take on the Buffaloes.
“I don’t have any plans to go to any other schools for gamedays yet. Nebraska talked to me about coming down for games this fall. I know that Colorado is a game that I want to go to.”
