The Florida Gators’ 5 most important official visitors this weekend
The Florida Gators are expected to host 12 official visitors this weekend and each one has a different value to Billy Napier’s program. While all of these players are talented prospects and many are priority recruits, some are more significant to the Gators than others. With this in mind, here are the five most important visitors for June 14-16 and why.
1: 4-star WR Vernell Brown III, Orlando (Fla.) Jones: You never want to put the must-get label on any recruit, but the importance of Brown to Florida this recruiting cycle can’t be overstated. For starters, he’s very good. You’re talking about an electric receiver who produces big on Friday nights. But you also have to factor in his legacy status. Multiple family members have played for the Gators, including his father and grandfather. When you add it all up, this is someone you simply can’t afford to lose. He’s a potential difference-maker with the ability to be one of the faces of the program in the coming years. Right now, it’s an all-out battle for Brown between Florida, FSU, Ohio State and Miami.
2: 4-star OT Tavaris Dice, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes — AUBURN COMMIT: No, it won’t be easy to flip Dice. He’s coming off his Auburn official and optimism there is said to be sky high right now. But Dice is giving the Gators a chance. He plays a premium position, is a big-time talent and might be the biggest name at his position the Gators have a realistic chance to sign. Therefore his importance to them is high. The Florida Gators staff is at its best on official visits and will need a great one here.
3: 4-star S Hylton Stubbs, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin — USC COMMIT: Stubbs is an elite in-state player (No. 56 overall in the country) who called the Gators his leader for over a year before committing somewhat out of the blue to the Trojans this spring. Now, Florida and Miami are trying to change his mind. While Stubbs wants to see how the Gators play this fall (along with USC and Miami), this is Florida’s opportunity to get him thinking about the orange and blue again. Losing him to USC hurt, but there is optimism in Gainesville the Gators can sign him in the end. This is a win Florida’s class really needs.
4: 4-star S Bryce Fitzgerald, Miami Christopher Columbus: Although Florida did well this offseason in the secondary via the transfer portal the Gators currently are without a commit at corner or safety for the 2025 class. Even though Florida will have a shot with Stubbs, it’s no sure thing he’ll join the class. Elsewhere, another safety target, Kaylib Singleton, will officially visit Michigan next weekend. So for Florida, it’s crucial to have other irons in the fire. Florida, FSU, LSU and Miami are the schools to track with Fitzgerald, who also has an upcoming official to Miami.
5: 4-star LB Tavion Wallace, Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County OR 4-star LB Ty Jackson, Loxahatchee (Fla.) Seminole Ridge: Landing an elite linebacker target is high on Florida’s list of needs this cycle, so getting one of these two players would be optimal. For Wallace, it’s a Florida State-Georgia-Florida battle, with the Gators perhaps running third entering this weekend. Jackson’s recruitment is a little more difficult to track, but this will be his third visit to Gainesville this year. Might the Florida Gators be a dark horse with him? It’s possible.
