After shining at FSU 7-on-7 camp, 4-star CB Ben Hanks previews official visit
Four-star cornerback and Florida Gators legacy Ben Hanks Jr. was on Florida State’s campus on Wednesday for Mike Norvell’s second 7-on-7 camp of the summer.
According to On3, Hanks is the 71st-best recruit in the 2025 class, as well as one of the top 10 prospects at his position.
Hanks will be back at Florida State for his official visit on June 18, and he said the biggest thing he wants to do during those 48 hours is get a better feel for the coaching staff and players.
“Just trying to build our relationship more, get stronger …,” Hanks said. “Just need to come up here next weekend and get the connection, see how the feeling is down here in Tallahassee. Basically, just chill.”
Although his father started at UF in the 1990s, Hanks has said he is open to other schools and wants to learn more about the Seminoles.
“Just looking for a program, facility-wise, just see if everything is good,” the Miami standout said. “Build my relationship on and off the field with everybody, the staff and just see what the environment is. Just in case I do come here, I need to know where I’m at and have a good environment.”
As for where the Seminoles stand in his recruitment, the four-star said, “they’re on my list.” If he has a good time on the Florida State official visit, it will, “definitely will bring it up.”
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Florida State does have some work to do in this recruitment. Currently, the Gators are the perceived leader with a 45.6 percent chance of landing his services. They are followed by Miami, Georgia, then FSU at fourth.
As for the 7-on-7 camp, Hanks’ team from Booker T. Washington High won the tournament.
“It’s good. Come out here and compete with my guys and win it all,” Hanks said.
The top-100 prospect said he also got the chance to talk with Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain as the tournament got going.
“We were chopping it up about the game and stuff,” he said.
Hanks now will return to Tallahassee on June 18 for his midweek official visit.
