Sooners Find New Offensive Line Targets

Sooners Find New Offensive Line Targets

Oklahoma has been extremely busy as they approach 20 new offers since the start of summer camps, a week ago today. And while almost every position on the field has seen a new offer one position in particular has carried the lion’s share. Bill Bedenbaugh‘s first two days of camp were loaded with big-time prospects. As such we’re going to take a look at the new names on Oklahoma’s offensive line offer list.

We’ve got the SCOOPHD highlights for you to see but we’ll take a look at the Sooners chances.

What’s on Tape: Barclay really is the definition of a ‘big athlete’. He moves around well and is explosive with his feet. It will be interesting to see how he projects. With his power and length guard seems like a very intriguing possibility.

Sooners Chances: He’s going to be a tougher sell than some on this list but the Sooners impressed Barclay during his visit.

What’s on Tape: Best showed off athleticism at camp but it’s his nastiness in the run game that sticks out. Time and time again Best doesn’t just physically dominate but finishes his block with his defender on the ground.

Sooners Chances: Best is definitely big on the Sooners. In fact, it might be safe to assume Oklahoma has the lead at the moment.

What’s on Tape: A promising prospect who is only going to get better with time. Goodwin can move his feet and as he gets better with his kickslide his athletic ability and size will make him tough to beat in the passing game.

Sooners Chances: The Arkansas native seems to be very intrigued by Oklahoma. But in spite of being in a neighboring state, OU’s fate in the Natural State has been shaky.

What’s on Tape: Johnson’s easy top-end athletic ability shows up over and over again on tape. Now, he’s still figuring out proper leverage and how best to stay on balance. But as he figures that out, his potential is huge.

Sooners Chances: Johnson really likes Oklahoma and the Sooners have an ally at Sulphur Springs – former Sooners linebacker Keenan Clayton. They’ve got a chance here.

What’s on Tape: A blocker who is just a wall when he gets his hands on you. Primus is very physical and loves to bully defenders. He has the look of an outstanding lead blocker to run behind at the college level.

Sooners Chances: Another player that seemed to leave impressed by Bedenbaugh. Primus feels like a guy who could make multiple returns to Norman in the next 18 months.

What’s on Tape: A player who does a great job working his feet and getting himself into advantageous positions. He’s a good athlete who can get out to the second level and as he gets stronger, he’ll become even more dominant in the run game.

Sooners Chances: Bedenbaugh always seems to connect well with Big 10 region players. But, as of late it’s an area that hasn’t produced much for OU.

What’s on Tape: You see a lot of the same versatility he showed at camp. Swanson works at right guard and left tackle in this practice video – he wasn’t on SOC’s varsity as a freshman – and looks dominant at times. At left tackle, with his athletic ability, it should come as no surprise. However, at guard watching him get physical and drive defenders is particularly impressive.

Sooners Chances: Swanson seems to have really enjoyed his time in Norman. That said, there’s no doubt he may end up an elite power five dogfight.

What’s on Tape: It’s not every player, even linemen, who you get a feel for their size from the press box. Tisaby has length and size that is rare and as he grows into his body big-time potential is there. He’s still long and lean but can be physical and will only get more so as he gets stronger.

Sooners Chances: Tisaby seems very high on OU. There’s definitely room to make a move if they decided to push for him.
