Ohio State official was the ‘best one yet’ for four-star OL Jayvon McFadden

COLUMBUS – Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye has offered less than 30 prospects in the 2025 class and several of those prospects were offered by the Buckeyes this spring. One prospect that Frye offered early in the process and prioritized is four-star Washington D.C. Riverdale Baptist offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden. 

Ohio State offered McFadden, the No. 378 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, in November while on a visit for the Michigan State game. He visited again in April for the spring game and was back in Columbus this weekend for his official visit. McFadden had already seen almost everything Ohio State has to offer prior to this weekend but his official visit was different.

“Columbus was good, man,” McFadden told Lettermen Row. “It’s always good to get down there and just feel the vibe with Coach Day and Coach Frye. But this right here, this was probably my best one yet.

“This one right here, it kind of just let me know exactly how they feel about me. And how I fit the system at Ohio State.”

McFadden’s official visit also gave his family the opportunity to see Ohio State and they enjoyed the visit as well.

“It was great, man. I couldn’t even really put it into words. The energy was there and it was just an overall good visit. My family liked it. It was an overall good visit for us.”

“It was just about how Coach Day and Coach Frye made me feel like I’m a priority for Ohio State. They want me there and they don’t want me anywhere else.”

Every prospect has a meeting with head coach Ryan Day in his office before their visit is over but Day made it a point to talk to McFadden multiple times throughout the visit. He sent the four-star offensive lineman the same message in every conversation.

“For me, I couldn’t talk about anyone else who was on their official visits, but I talked to Coach Day maybe five times this weekend and every time it was the same message that Ohio State is the best in the country, we have the best and if not the best, I’ll find the best. And they want the best.”

McFadden told Lettermen Row that he plans to commit before the start of his senior season or shortly after the season starts. Maryland, Penn State and South Carolina were programs that he discussed potentially visiting.
