Alabama 4-star DL commit Antonio Coleman visits Auburn, still strongly considering Tigers

Four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman was back in Auburn this weekend for an official visit.

Coleman, who attends Saraland (Ala.) High School, arrived in Auburn on Friday and stayed until Sunday. It was his third visit to Auburn this year and second since flipping his commitment from Auburn back to Alabama in March. Coleman previously flipped from Alabama to Auburn.

“The visit was great. I definitely had a fun time,” he said. “I love the staff, the meetings that we had. I had a good time.”

Coleman spent a lot of time with Auburn defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams during the visit. The two have developed a strong relationship since King-Williams took over for former d-line coach Jeremy Garrett.

“I spent a lot of time with Coach Vontrell,” he said. “We talked about the scheme that they run and things I could do to be a better player. We had a great time. He’s a great coach. He’s going to shoot it to you straight. If you have something going on that he feel like you can do to get better, he’s going to work his tail off to make sure you get to that level.”

Following the visit, Coleman declined to comment on Auburn’s chances of flipping him back. He wants to take his time in making a final decision.

“It’s a big step,” he said. “You have to make grown-up decisions. You have to be somewhere for four years, so it’s a lot, but nothing I can’t handle.

“The second-to-last game, after that game, I want to close my recruitment. I just want to go somewhere where I feel welcomed, can get developed and be a better player and have a shot at the (NFL).”

Coleman will visit Alabama next weekend and plans to return to Big Cat on July 27.

“Nine times out of 10, I’ll be back to Big Cat,” he said. “If I don’t, I’ll be at a lot of games. Coach (Hugh) Freeze told me he’s not giving up even when I did commit (back to Alabama). That’s what I like about him. He’s determined, and that’s the type of people I would like to be around, but I’m still going through my recruitment.”

Coleman is listed at 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds. The On3 Industry Ranking, which is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, ranks Coleman the No. 11 defensive tackle in the country. Coleman also ranks the No. 129 overall recruit in the class and No. 12 in Alabama.
