2026 four-star KJ Edwards recaps Texas visit, new offer, next trips

2026 Carthage (Texas) running back KJ Edwards has been on the 40 Acres multiple times during his recruitment. That includes Saturday, when he got to compete at the Elite Camp at DKR.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound four-star holds a ton offers including Texas, USC, Georgia, Stanford, Miami, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma. The Horns offered early and brought him back to Austin over the weekend.

How was this trip and what was Tashard Choice‘s message?

“It went good,” Edwards told Inside Texas. “He told me just keep working and that he can see I’ve been putting in work. He was impressed with my footwork.”

Edwards says his next visits are to Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He could possibly head up north to see Michigan, who offered last night.

Edwards continues to get closer to Choice, and will return to Austin in late July for another unofficial. He’ll likely be joined by teammate and fellow 2026 Texas target DaQuives Beck, who also camped in Austin over the weekend as well.

Edwards tallied 1,706 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns with a 10.0 yards per carry average in 2023, helping Carthage to a 13-1 record and Texas 4A DII state quarterfinals appearance.

As a freshman in 2023, he notched an 11.08 100m and a 22.59 200m for the Bulldogs.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Edwards is the No. 104 overall prospect in the country, No. 9 prospect in Texas, and No. 11 running back in America. On3 ranks Edwards as the No. 87 overall prospect, the No. 12 player in Texas, and the No. 10 running back in America.
