June 7 official visitors Florida needs to make a statement with

This weekend, the Florida Gators will be hosting another large batch of official visitors.

Obviously, there has to be some interest from a prospect to schedule an official visit; however, that doesn’t mean the Gators don’t have significant ground to make up.

Below are three official visitors Florida needs to make a statement with this weekend.

5-star Trey McNutt, Shaker Heights (Ohio) High

The Gators hosted McNutt and his mother in April and then landed in the defensive back’s top eight.

However, McNutt is more familiar with other schools in his top group. Florida is one of the lone contenders that hasn’t received multiple unofficial visits. Then you have to consider proximity too, as the Buckeyes are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with odds north of 70 percent.

With that said, the Florida Gators need to knock it out of the park this weekend if they want to have a real shot at coming out on top. This could be the final time McNutt makes his way to campus.

Secondary Will Harris is doing a good job of recruiting him though and the Gators altogether are making sure McNutt knows he’s a top priority. That led to a multi-day visit, so the opportunity in there, but surpasses the Buckeyes might be the biggest challenge of them all.

Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, USC and Texas A&M make up the DB’s top group.

5-star WR Caleb Cunningham, Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County

Right now, Auburn stands at No. 1 for Cunningham following a game-changing official visit.

Also, it’s never easy prying top recruits out of Mississippi, so that says a lot about the impression the Tigers made. Mississippi State, however, is still trending heavily in the RPM with odds at 81 percent.

As for the Gators, they have been in the picture for quite some time. They have also received multiple visits, with the most recent trip to Gainesville having been for the Orange and Blue Game. Cunningham is no stranger to the Swamp and everything that comes along with being a student athlete at UF.

Florida still somewhat sits in the middle of the pack though. Never say never, but the Florida Gators need to make a big-time statement this weekend to move up Cunningham’s list. If they don’t, they will likely be mentioned until the end but not be considered a real threat.

4-star EDGE Jakaleb Faulk, Highland Home (Ala.) High — AUBURN COMMIT

Faulk is considered a strong commit for the in-state Tigers and his brother, Keldrick Faulk, is on Auburn’s roster. That is a difficult hurdle for not only Florida but any school trying to pull off a flip.

The younger Faulk has visited the Gators multiple times though and dedicated one of his summer official visits to them. That has to mean something. Florida extended an offer about two years ago, so the familiarity is in place.

However, prior to Faulk’s commitment to Auburn and when UF was buzzing most, Patrick Toney and Jamar Chaney were the staff members primarily recruiting him. That was a while ago.

This time around, relationship building will be a top priority. Faulk will obviously need a refresher since he hasn’t been on campus lately, but being comfortable around the staff and having more face time are likely most important for the 2025 prospect.

Schools like Alabama and Florida State are also in pursuit of Faulk.
