Top 100 DB JaDon Blair talks school visit from Michigan staff, upcoming OV
Michigan secondary coach LaMar Morgan and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale saw some of their biggest targets during last month’s spring evaluation period, including JaDon Blair.
The Top 100 Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor safety enjoyed his time with both and learned more about his potential fit in U-M’s defensive scheme.
“Coach Morgan and Coach Wink are great,” Blair said. “I got to chop it up with them about where they see me, the development and the system. They call me a unique player that can play anywhere on the field for them. Coach Wink explained to me and my father about how I would excel in that defense. He feels like he can develop me the best. It was a great meeting.”
Morgan has made Blair a top priority since arriving in Ann Arbor earlier this offseason, and the two are continuing to build a strong bond.
“I have a great relationship with Coach Morgan,” Blair said. “He texts me a lot. We talk about how school is going, how practice has been and just more normal conversations. He’s a really great guy. He’s keeping up that communication.”
Blair made his first visit to Michigan in the spring and is now set to return to Ann Arbor for an official visit on June 14.
“I’m definitely excited to get back up there,” Blair said. “I’m looking for where I can fit in best. I know I fit into Michigan’s defense. But I want to spend time with the players and see the surrounding area. If they have like-minded players, then it’s a place I can be. I love all the coaches. I just want to get that vibe from the players.”
Notre Dame has the heavy lead for Blair on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, he made it clear that Michigan is very much in play in his recruitment going into his OV.
“They have a really great shot,” Blair said. “It’s Michigan. I like the defense they have and the way they are developing. It’s a place I can see myself. I can confidently say Michigan is one of the top schools on my leaderboard.”
Blar has already made official visits to South Carolina and Virginia Tech. Along with Michigan, Blair plans to see Florida State, Notre Dame and Penn State later this month.
Blair will make his final decision on July 5 and knows exactly what he’s looking for.
“Which coaches do I vibe with and trust the most,” Blair said. “The end goal for me is the NFL. Of course, there is going to be life after football, but my goal is the NFL, so I’m looking for a coach that can help me get there and have longevity. Also, I want some players there that can mentor me and look up to.”
At 6-foot-4, 195 pounds, Blair is ranked as the No. 8 safety and No. 85 overall recruit nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
