Ohio State in top schools for IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix
COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely finds itself on top school lists and the Buckeyes have done it once again.
Four-star Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix included Ohio State in his top six. Florida State, Oregon, Miami, Notre Dame and Stanford are the other five programs in contention.
The 5-foot-11.5, 225-pound prospect is the No. 151 overall prospect and the No. 17 linebacker according to the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has Nix outside of the On300 and the No. 31 linebacker
Where do the Buckeyes stand in this recruitment? Who’s the leader? Lettermen Row breaks it all down.
Ohio State
Nix has only visited Ohio State once in his recruitment and that was this spring.
Any time a prospect is on campus it’s absolutely noteworthy, but there wasn’t much buzz coming out of that trip for the Buckeyes. Nix doesn’t have any plans as of now to visit Ohio State this summer and he’s already scheduled official visits to Oregon and Florida State.
That’s pretty much the case for the Buckeyes as of now, who are also pursuing other linebacker options including one of Nix’s teammates, Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng.
The Field
This recruitment has the state of Florida all wrapped around it.
Florida State and Miami are the two programs battling it out for Nix’s pledge with the intel suggesting the Seminoles are in pole position in this race.
Nix has visited Tallahassee five times and his sixth is the June 21 weekend when he makes his official visit. Shockingly, he cut the Florida Gators from his consideration after making at least nine visits to Gainesville throughout his recruitment.
Other new contenders include Notre Dame and Stanford for Nix.
