Will Harris has Gators trending as major contender for 4-star DB Jaylan Morgan

When speaking with Gators Online in April, 4-star safety Jaylan Morgan labeled Florida as a top contender. That was roughly three months after earning the SEC offer.

With his Florida Gators official visit a week away, the Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Rockvale star says not a whole lot has changed. Much of that can be credited to his tight-knit bond with secondary coach Will Harris.

“I would say they are still in my top 2-3 range,” Morgan told GO. “I was very interested in Florida from the jump. Coach Harris, the DBs coach, he really stuck out to me whenever he came down to my school. We had some really personal conversations and I respected him.”

Shortly thereafter, the 2025 prospect regrouped with his family to discuss possibilities with the Gators.

“When I came home, I was like, ‘Mom, I have to get down there to see what they are talking about,’” said Morgan. “After that, I ended up getting along with the whole coaching staff. That’s what really pushed me to schedule an official visit with Florida.”

Morgan has been in Gainesville twice before; however, one time was in eighth grade and prior to becoming a national recruit. Meeting with Will Harris at school was a step in the right direction, but he still has more to learn about the school.

“Really, the education standpoint and making sure they have everything in line that I want to do,” Morgan said when asked what he wants to see during his OV. “Also, just being around the coaches a little bit more.”

Additional top contenders for Morgan include Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Purdue. Georgia and Mississippi State are the schools recruiting him hardest. Florida, however, is “coming up close” behind them and doing a good job as well

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Morgan is the No. 24 safety and No. 241 prospect overall.
