USC Trending for 5-Star Texas Cornerback, Set for June 7-9 Official Visit

USC Trending for 5-Star Texas Cornerback, Set for June 7-9 Official Visit

USC offered Elite Conroe (TX) Cornerback Dorian Brew back in early January and that offer was followed up by a Jan. 27 USC unofficial visit from Brew. That USC visit was followed up by school visits from head coach Lincoln Riley and DB coach Doug Belk on February 1.

Brew was set to announce a school choice on January 24, but ultimately decided to postpone making a school choice. At that time MichiganOhio StateOregonPenn State and Texas made up Brew’s top five schools, but the offer from the Trojans was significant.

Since then, Brew’s recruitment has shifted a bit. The Buckeyes have commitments from two of the nation’s top three players at that position, and other schools have worked hard to get on Brew’s shortlist. USC is among the schools who’ve come on strong since the beginning of the year.

Three schools standing out

The mutual USC interest led to Brew visiting USC unofficially twice and him setting up a June 7-9 official visit. He’s also set to visit LSU May 31-June 2, Ohio St. June 21-23 and he’ll likely visit Texas June 14-16.

Heading into the summer, three schools look to be at the top of the heap, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

“Talking to a source close to Dorian Brew earlier this week, they feel like LSU, Texas and USC are best positioned,” Wiltfong said Thursday during On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show. “USC is a program that has been kinda of a sexy name around Brew after some visits out there. [He likes] the new coaching staff. And D’Anton Lynn, the defensive coordinator is kind of leading that charge and making things attractive out there at USC.

“… LSU and Corey Raymond, you never sleep on them for a defensive back. And then Texas, they’re looking for another Top-5 recruiting class. And they are going to be one of the hot schools we talk about this summer. They weren’t a school we talked about as much in the spring, but come summer and official visit season there’s going to be a lot of Texas talk.”

USC

Both Wiltfong and Simmons believe USC is School to beat a this time, and so does WeAreSC.

Don’t be surprised if a commitment announcement comes not long after the four official visits are taken. We’re told USC hopes to have as many guys committed as possible prior to Fall Camp in August.

Brew scared with On3 why the Trojans are among the strongest contenders.

“With all the coaches on the defensive staff, they’re one of the best in the country,” Brew told On3’s Chad Simmons of USC. “Coach Belk, he was a coordinator and now, he’s the defensive backs coach. Coach Lynn, he came from the NFL. He has NFL experience and that means he’ll be running an NFL-style defense. That’s important to me because my goal is to go to the NFL. If I’m playing in an NFL-style defense in college, it’ll be an easy transition for me once I get to the NFL.”

On3 Industry Ranking

Brew ranks as the No. 29 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 4 cornerback and the No. 8 player in the state of Texas.

On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has the Ohio State Buckeyes as the heavy favorite to land a commitment from Brew at 98.3%. His mother ran track for the Buckeyes and she is in their Hall of Fame. Before moving back to Texas in October, Brew played at Northmont High in Clayton (Ohio.)

2025 USC Commits (12)

USC currently has 12 verbal commits from the class of 2025 in Justus TerryIsaiah GibsonJulian “JuJu” LewisDrake StubbsMatai Tagoa’iRomero IsonHarry DaltonTrestin CastroGus CordovaWilli WascherRiley Wormley and Daune Morris

USC already has verbal commitments from two defensive backs in Castro and Stubbs, so adding a player of Brew’s caliber would be huge. The Trojans are also trending with four-star Corona (CA) Centennial CB LaRue Zamorano, who also officially visits June 7-9.
