2026 four-star QB Dereon Coleman visiting “dream school” Oklahoma this weekend

Lakeland (Fla.) Jones four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman will visit Oklahoma this weekend.

And coming into the trip, the Sooners are the program to beat.

“I’m really excited to see what the campus is like and how much I fit in being in Oklahoma,” Coleman told On3. “I have a great relationship with Coach (Seth) Littrell and Coach (Ty) Hatcher but I’m most excited to sit down with the head coach and hear what he has to say about me, my game and where I stand on their board in the 2026 class.

“Oklahoma was my dream school growing up as a kid watching Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield and most recently Caleb Williams, so it’s going to be a surreal moment for me when I actually step foot on campus today and realize I’m at the same place that most of the best college quarterbacks ever played at.”

The On3 Industry Rankings tab the 6-foot-1, 160-pound Coleman as the nation’s No. 21 quarterback. 

As a sophomore he completed over 63 percent of his passes for 2,236 yards and 16 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He added another 247 rushing yards and four more scores.

“My favorite things about Dereon as a passer and player is his calmness in the pocket,” Coleman’s trainer Baylin Trujillo said. “He is always in control and he plays within himself. He never creates a moment in his mind that’s bigger than what’s happening on the field. He’s such a confident player and he knows his arm talent, he can make any throw on the field. he has the best fast twitch I’ve ever trained in nine years of training quarterbacks. It’s been a blessing to have developed him into who he is now as a pure passer since he was 10-years old.”

Besides Oklahoma, other early offers for Coleman include USF, UCF, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Illinois.
