Miami landed one of its top TE targets in 2025. What’s next?

Miami landing Cincinnati (Ohio) Lakota West four-star 2025 tight end Luka Gilbert was undoubtedly a massive recruiting win for tight ends coach Cody Woodiel and head coach Mario Cristobal, both of whom were very involved in Gilbert’s recruitment and helped the Hurricanes beat out Ohio State, Kentucky, Michigan and Penn State for the top-250 prospect. But Miami’s tight end recruiting this class is far from finished.

Gilbert was one of the top tight end targets on Miami’s board and gave the Hurricanes’ staff reason to celebrate following his commitment Monday night, but the Canes still appear likely to try to take two tight ends in the 2025 class. Miami is still aggressively recruiting fellow four-star tight end Brock Schott, is in a good position for three-star tight end Hayden Bradley, is still communicating with three-star North Carolina commit Marshall Pritchett and has now brought No. 1 tight end and Georgia commit Elyiss Williams to campus twice in the last month.

Miami currently has official visits lined up with Schott and Bradley. CaneSport has not yet been able to confirm if Pritchett, who previously had an official visit scheduled with Miami prior to committing to North Carolina, will still take his OV to Coral Gables. Williams is still strong in his commitment to the Bulldogs and is probably more of a long shot, but the Hurricanes could be an outside threat to Georgia if Miami keeps getting him down to campus.

Miami has established itself as a top-two school for Schott along with Ohio State, and things remain tight between the Hurricanes and Buckeyes. Schott is expected to take official visits to both schools and has been one of the top tight ends pursued by both programs. He has a versatile skillset as a potential college H-back or in-line tight end.

The Hurricanes have also done a particularly good job with Bradley, another H-back-type tight end, who will take an official visit to Miami June 7, Penn State June 21 and is looking at official visits to Ole Miss and Michigan. The four schools have started to separate themselves for Bradley and have been in constant contact with the Georgia prospect looking to commit some time this summer. Miami has also stayed in contact with Pritchett, who chose North Carolina over Miami March 23 but was particularly high on the Hurricanes. Sources indicated Miami was his No. 2 school at the time and the gap between the Tar Heels and Hurricanes was plenty close.

Miami could potentially be an outside threat for Williams as well. He visited Miami March 7 and April 6, although I still believe he’ll remain committed to Georgia for the foreseeable future. However, the Bulldogs will have to keep tabs on Miami as long as the Canes keep getting the No. 1 tight end to campus.
