Top-75 S Simeon Caldwell names Miami a top-10 school after weekend Hurricanes visit

Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School four-star 2026 safety Simeon Caldwell is still narrowing down his list of schools with his recruitment picking up in a major way this spring, and after a weekend trip to Miami the No. 74 overall prospect in next year’s recruiting cycle is confident the Hurricanes are one of his top 10 schools.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect and No. 7 safety in the On300 has received his share of attention in a major spring from programs including Ohio State, Texas, Tennessee, Florida State, Notre Dame and Georgia, and the Hurricanes have done their job to make an early impression on the four-star prospect. Caldwell is the nephew of former Miami defensive coordinator Tim Walton, who is currently serving as Ohio State’s secondary coach and is Caldwell’s primary recruiter there, of course.

But he knows Miami is a school he’ll keep considering.

“I was able to talk to (coaches), loved the practice (watching Saturday’s scrimmage),” Caldwell told CaneSport after his visit. “It was a great opportunity to see them scrimmage because not all practices are as physical as this one. So this was a great chance to see the competitiveness. And just coming back from my campus tour, I loved the campus. It’s Miami, the sun is out, everyone is on the beach. It’s just a great campus.”

During the scrimmage Caldwell says he noticed that Miami coaches were giving younger players reps with the ones and twos.

“That’s important to see, because I want to go to a school where I can make an immediate impact as a freshman and sophomore,” Caldwell said. “Seeing early enrollees that should still be seniors getting first and second team reps you know if you are good enough to play that they’ll play you, they don’t do the seniority thing. They put the best player on the field.”

With such high-profile schools showing interest, how interested is he in Miami?

“I’m interested,” Caldwell said. “I have to see down the line. I have some schools I like, some that are ‘eh.’ But I haven’t really thought about that. They are definitely in the top 10 schools. I’m not narrowing the list, keeping everything open. They are in the top 10 as of now.”

Caldwell also says a future visit to Miami should be in the cards, and he visits Notre Dame this week.

Caldwell is truly giving each team an equal chance early on, and the four-star safety knows he’ll take his recruitment slow. So he’s one we’ll continue to monitor moving forward.
