OTHER NOTEWORTHY STATS
– Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe had a big day passing the ball against Texas A&M, as he threw for 300-plus yards for the first time in his college career. Milroe has now passed for 1,189 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his throws. He ranks second in the SEC and fifth nationally in yards per pass attempt (10.4) and is third in the conference and 12th among FBS quarterbacks with a passer rating of 174.82.
– Milroe’s favorite target this past weekend was wide receiver Jermaine Burton, who more than doubled his season-long production in the win over the Aggies. Burton is now up to 386 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 receptions, averaging 22.71 yards per catch. That average is tops in the SEC and is 10th in the nation. The senior wideout has the 14th-most receiving yards in the conference, but all 13 players ahead of him have 26 or more receptions.
– Linebacker Dallas Turner recorded one of Alabama’s five sacks in the win in College Station, bringing his 6-game total to 6.5 sacks. That leads the SEC and is good for a share of third place at the national level at the midway point of the regular season. Turner also added 1.5 tackles for loss on Saturday, giving him nine on the year, which is the second-most in the SEC and tied for the 10th-most in the country. His teammate and fellow edge rusher, Chris Braswell, isn’t far behind with 4.5 sacks (5th in the SEC) and 6.5 tackles for loss (8th).
– The five sacks over the weekend increased the Crimson Tide defense’s overall total to 22 in six games. Alabama is tied with Ole Miss and Tennessee for not only second in the SEC and third nationally. Texas A&M now leads the nation with 26 sacks after recording six against the Tide in Week 6. Alabama has coincidentally allowed 26 sacks (T-130th in the FBS).
– True freshman safety Caleb Downs continues to play at a high level as he finished second on the team in tackles (7) and recorded his second interception in as many games. Downs is up to 47 total tackles and 25 solo stops through his first six games and has the fourth-most tackles in the SEC. His pair of interceptions are tied for fifth in the conference. Cornerback Terrion Arnold recorded his sixth pass breakup of the year, the third-most in the SEC.
– Alabama placekicker Will Reichard made a 39-yard field goal and three extra points in the win at Texas A&M and has now made all 12 attempts this season and 25 consecutive kicks, dating back to October of last year. Reichard has the most made field goals of the 13 kickers who have not missed so far this season. The six points he scored on Saturday give him 480 for his career, which tied Auburn’s Daniel Carlson for seventh place in NCAA history.
– James Burnip punted twice before leaving the game with a pulled muscle, according to head coach Nick Saban. But Burnip averaged 46 yards per punt, with a long of 63 yards, before his exit, and his 48.04 average ranks second in the SEC and sixth in the nation. The Australian has been a real weapon for Alabama, so his status will be one that we monitor.
