Ohio State 4-star RB commit recaps weekend Miami visit: “This loss doesn’t change anything for me”
The Miami Hurricanes currently have three prospects from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas committed in their 2024 class in Chance Robinson, Ryan Mack, and Romanas Frederique, and the ‘Canes have their eyes on another in four-star Ohio State commit, RB Jordan Lyle, who was at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday.
“They want me to come to Miami,” Lyle told CaneSport. “That’s why I came out, and you know, I’m really just testing the waters, seeing how Miami is, and just taking it day by day.”
Lyle’s trip to Hard Rock Stadium was his second game-day visit with the Hurricanes this season, with the first on Sept. 9 when Miami defeated Texas A&M 48-33.
“I just wanted to feel out the energy and see how the team looked,” Lyle said. “I’ve been watching how they’re doing this season and wanted to see how they play.”
Although things did not go Miami’s way Saturday evening against Georgia Tech, the No. 165 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, was impressed with what he saw from the Hurricanes on the ground.
“When a team knows you’re going to run the ball and you progressively make yards, that says a lot about the line,” Lyle said. “The offensive line is young, and coach (Tim) Harris is doing a great job of recruiting guys that can make an impact. I’m proud of what they’re doing.”
Since committing to Ohio State in April, Lyle has continued to build his relationship with the Hurricanes staff. The 6-foot, 190-pound Florida native believes under Miami head coach Mario Cristobal that the program is heading in the right direction.
“Miami is a great school, and they have great academics,” Lyle said. “Their football is getting better, and when you look at the recruiting class, you’ve got a lot of big-name guys and talented guys who want to make Miami great again.”

Lyle, like many recruits on hand Saturday evening, isn’t taking this Hurricanes’ loss as you might imagine; instead, they’re seeing the bright side. With Miami continuing to pursue the Buckeye commit despite his long-time pledge and two running backs Kevin Riley and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey committed in the 2024 class, this is a situation worth monitoring as the year progresses. “This loss doesn’t change anything for me,” Lyle said. “I really see this as a win more than a loss. It doesn’t impact me at all; I still want to build my relationship up with the coaches and see how everything goes day by day.”
