Miami Hurricanes commit Cam Pruitt not deterred by defeat to Georgia Tech: “They’re going to bounce back”

For the first time since his summer, Theodore (Al.) 2024 three-star Miami linebacker commit Cam Pruitt made his way back to the Sunshine State for the Hurricanes ACC opener against Georgia Tech. 

Although things did not go Miami’s way after falling to the Yellow Jackets 23-20, Pruitt’s faith in Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal and the program has not changed whatsoever, and he believes the best is yet to come. 

“You can’t worry about one loss,” Pruitt told CaneSport. “They’re 4-1, and they hadn’t lost to this point this season. Georgia Tech is a good team, so you can’t just knock down Miami. They’re 4-1 and better than they were last year. They will shake back, and they’re going to bounce back.”

Pruitt’s return to South Florida marked his first trip back to Miami since his official visit in mid-June. Throughout his time at Hard Rock Stadium, the No. 406 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, to his surprise, he was greeted by a handful of fans.

Certainly Pruitt enjoyed his time Saturday evening.

“It was a fun and good experience,” Pruitt said. “Nothing changes. They only lost one game.”

With programs continuing to monitor and reach out to the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder, Pruitt says his pledge to the Hurricanes is solid and one game will not affect the way he looks at the program. 

Miami’s message to the Alabama native following Saturday’s contest? 

“Just trust the process,” Pruitt said. “I’ve been trusting the process for so long. Even in high school, I had to trust the process. When you just trust it, it will go. They’re rebuilding a whole new team. When the 2024 class gets there, it’s going to be it.”

Losing a game in that fashion in front of a handful of commits and elite prospects is never easy, but the reaction from most recruits, such as Pruitt and others, has been relatively positive. Following the contest, Pruitt seemed to be very understanding of what was going on within the program and expressed his utmost faith in the Hurricanes this season.
