Latest on 2025 WRs Taz Williams and Marcus Harris, updated visitor list for Wyoming
Inside Texas takes a look at a pair of 2025 wide receiver prospects headed to Austin this weekend, plus the latest Texas-Wyoming visitor list for Saturday.
Taz Williams, WR, Red Oak (Texas) – 2025
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound On3 Industry Ranking four-star is one of the most popular recruits in the country. The Pittsburgh native and Red Oak product holds 44 offers including Texas, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, Miami, and USC.
Williams told Inside Texas he is set to see Austin this weekend for Texas-Wyoming. Williams watched the Longhorns topple Alabama on television and was thoroughly impressed.
He felt the Longhorns played a great game and sees a pattern of winning developing in Austin.
He’s also building a strong bond with Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson.
Williams notched 582 yards receiving and five touchdowns in 2022. He has 20 catches for 282 yards and three scores this season. He faced off with Lake Belton and Arkansas cornerback commit Selman Bridges last Friday. It was payback time for Williams after last year’s loss to the Broncos.
“I was waiting for that matchup against Bridges all year since they beat us last year,” Williams said.
Williams will take an unofficial visit to Boulder for the USC-Colorado game on September 30th as well.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Williams ranks as the No. 269 overall prospect in the country, No. 40 wide receiver in the nation and No. 48 overall prospect in Texas.
Marcus Harris, WR, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei – 2025
After seeing the performance from the Texas wide receivers in Tuscaloosa last weekend, the Mater Dei product has set a trip to Austin to watch the Texas-Wyoming game this weekend. It’ll be Harris’ second visit to UT this year.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound On3 four-star thinks the result versus Bama is the type of win for the Longhorns that “turns heads.” He told Inside Texas that the win was proof that Texas can and will compete in the SEC in 2024.
Harris had a breakout 2022 season where he tallied 644 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 25 catches for a 25.8 average yards per catch.
Harris holds offers Texas, Penn State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Washington, among others.
Harris is currently ranked as the No. 43 overall prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 9 wide receiver and No. 5 player in California for the 2025 class.
