Lucky Charms: 2026 Notre Dame quarterback target sets return trip
Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.
*** In last night’s Lucky Charms, I had notes on quarterback recruiting for the Irish in the 2026 class and have another notable nugget to add for today’s article. Lake Mary (Fla.) High’s Noah Grubbs tells me that he’ll be in South Bend for the Irish’s monumental tilt against Ohio State Sept. 23. Grubbs camped at Notre Dame over the summer and earned an offer from the Fighting Irish staff. UCF, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Miami and Pittsburgh are among his other scholarship offers.
“The conversation was for sure a moment I’ll never forget and get to share with my family and my future family one day,” Grubbs said about picking up the Notre Dame offer. “I was told by Coach [Gino] Guidugli after meeting with him to go to the head coaches office, because he had some ‘good news’ for me.
“Of course I got excited when I heard those words, because I had a good feeling [the offer] was coming, and once my dad and I walked into the office, Coach [Marcus] Freeman told me that he loved what he saw today at camp and told me in front of my dad that I officially have a scholarship offer to the University of Notre Dame.”
Grubbs visited Virginia Tech this past weekend and heads to Miami this weekend to see the Hurricanes battle Texas A&M. On Sept. 16, he heads to Florida for the Gators’ matchup against Tennessee. A week after seeing Notre Dame, Grubbs will watch UCF’s game against Baylor. That’s just the September travel; he’s also planning to see Florida State and Michigan later this fall as well and will make some return visits in the Sunshine State, too.
*** West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West’s Taebron Bennie-Powell, who ranks as the No. 558 overall prospect and No. 22 “athlete” in America per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, was wanting to visit Notre Dame this past weekend for the team’s home opener, but he was unable to make the trip. Bennie-Powell tells Blue & Gold that he will make it to campus next weekend for the Central Michigan game, though. Bennie-Powell earned an offer from Notre Dame after impressing the staff in person over the summer and committed to the Irish a few days afterwards.
