Tampa-based QB Will Griffin, a Gators offeree, locks in next trip to Florida

With a handful of offers having been delivered, Billy Napier and the Gators are already putting in a significant amount of time with quarterbacks in the 2026 class.

One of them is Will Griffin, a lifelong Florida fan and three-year starter from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit.

The 6-foot-2.5, 225-pound sophomore was last seen in Gainesville for Friday Night Lights and visited multiple times during the spring as well; in fact, it was the day of the Orange and Blue Game when the SEC program extended a scholarship offer.

Now, Griffin is gearing up to return to campus for one of the Gators’ upcoming home games.

“I will be at Alabama this Saturday. Also, I plan to be at Georgia vs. South Carolina and UF for the Vandy game,” Griffin told Gators Online.

The Gators are trending up in the relationship department

As for the Gators, that matchup against the Commodores is on the calendar for Oct. 7. And they will be looking to make a statement in a major way too, as Vanderbilt came out on top by seven points a season ago.

There is no doubt Griffin is stoked to take in action that Saturday; however, reconnecting with Napier’s staff is equally as important.

Offensive analyst Ryan O’Hara, who primarily works with the quarterbacks alongside Napier, serves as the sophomore’s go-to contact early on.

“I love coach O’Hara,” Griffin recently told GO. “He’s such a genuine person. And I’ve met him so many times now. I like the way he runs the offense. He has a bunch of confidence in his team and in his players. That’s something I’d like to have in one of my coaches, too.”

The Power Five offers are stacking up

In addition to the Gators, Griffin possesses offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, UCF and Toledo. He still has three years of high school left as well, so the recruiting process is truly just getting started.

Right now, Florida is the school trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Those odds are currently at 50.8 percent, while Florida State is not far behind with a percentage of 44.4 percent.

Through two games of the 2023 season, Griffin has completed 43-of-55 passes for 629 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. He is responsible for one rushing touchdown as well.
