Top-50 prospect locks in third Florida Gators visit of the year

One of Billy Gonzales’ top targets in the 2025 class tells Gators Online he lined up another trip to Gainesville.

Naeshaun Montgomery, an On3 top-50 prospect from West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman, says he will be in attendance for the Gators’ SEC opener in September. It will mark his third trip to Florida this calendar year, as Billy Napier’s staff also played host in January and April.

According to the On300 rankings, Montgomery is the No. 10-ranked wide receiver and No. 47-ranked prospect overall.

“I’ll be at the Tennessee game Sept. 16,” Montgomery told GO.

Roughly two weeks ago, we spoke with Montgomery and he mentioned that a flurry of visits were in the process of being scheduled. And due to proximity, the Gators were expected to be a part of those plans.

On top of that, the blue-chip pass catcher said Florida is “definitely” one of his top schools as well.

“The relationship is kind of just beginning. We are getting to know one another,” Montgomery said of his bond with Gonzales. “Me and my dad sat in his office for about an hour going over how I could fit into their system. We also talked about how well he knows my coach, coach (Jack) Daniels.

“He’s definitely a coach I can see myself getting coached by.”

Numerous schools are heavily in the mix early on

Montgomery, who is originally from Maine and moved to the Sunshine State roughly a year ago, is one of the hottest prospects in his class. His recruitment has been an absolute whirlwind since making that cross-country move.

Additional offers on the table include Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, USC, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss and Penn State.

Miami, according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, holds the slight edge over Florida, LSU and USC, respectively.

Montgomery was a top performer at June’s OT7 Finals

“Naeshaun Montgomery was Julian Sayin‘s preferred target at the OT7 Finals.

“The West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman product caught four touchdown passes during knockout play and showed the ability to make plays in a variety of ways. His first score came on a deep ball from Sayin, while showing the ability to separate vertically. Montgomery caught a game-winning touchdown on a slant route and showed strong route-running ability on two more touchdowns in the red zone.

“The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder also flashed natural ball skills. Montgomery also turned in a strong afternoon on Friday, catching two touchdowns once Sayin joined the team.” — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
